I wanted to write to you at this unprecedented time recognising that many people will understandably be feeling anxious about COVID-19 and what might happen in the coming days and weeks.
Firstly, I want to reassure you that should Smart 11+ Tuition be notified of a confirmed case of COVID-19 among our staff or students, I will write to you to advise you that this is the case. However, at the moment we are not aware of anyone who has received a positive test result among the community and therefore it is important that we continue to operate as normal for as long as it is safe and appropriate to do so. In terms of safety measures we are taking in-centre, there will be increased vigilance in regard to cleanliness and we will be using antibacterial cleaning products on equipment before, during and after sessions.
Staff at Smart 11+ Tuition are working hard to put plans in place so that we can be ready to deal with whatever the government advises around COVID-19. This might include closing the centre and therefore withdrawing the in-centre group teaching we provide. We understand that from an educational point of view this could have implications for your child. We want to limit the potential negative impact this could have, so we are putting plans in place to move to an online delivery of teaching using all the existing resources we use, along with video content to support it until such a time as we are advised we can reopen our centres.
We are planning for work to be sent in the form of individual emails to each pupil with set tasks to complete and answers sheets for parents to support. The video content will be for both English and maths and will offer assistance to pupils with the more difficult sections of the work we send. We will also set up a tutor email address for tuition related questions should your child need further assistance with any of the set work. Finally we will continue to utilise the fantastic online homework system already in place.
Should we be advised to close our centre, the cost of the tuition will be heavily discounted. We have yet to finalise the exact details due to uncertainty regarding a number of cost factors which include overheads such as venues, staffing and online tools to facilitate this process. Further information on prices will be provided immediately should this eventuality happen.
Our priority remains the health, safety and wellbeing of our community. From our point of view this includes the academic wellbeing of your child, ensuring that they are supported through this challenging time and given the tools to progress academically as they would with our usual in-centre tuition.
With best wishes,
Principal Tutor at Smart 11+ Tuition
