How do we work – an insight into Smart 11+ Tuition.

Signing up for a tuition company to help your child with the 11+ exam is a big decision. There are many factors to consider including: how long are the sessions, how much are the sessions, what do you teach? The list can be exhaustive, and worse than that, many tuition companies take their own angle. Some companies teach the whole national curriculum, some teach between 10 to 20 pupils in big groups, others only do half-hour sessions. It is a jungle out there. So often your question when you come to us all wide-eyed and bushy-tailed is: how do we work?

We are more than happy to share. Let’s explore, shall we?

What does a typical session look like at Smart 11+ Tuition?

Firstly, all our sessions run for an hour and twenty minutes. This allows a forty-minute maths session, followed by a forty-minute English session. Additionally, each session is run by a qualified teacher that sometimes has specialisms in either Maths or English. This enables the children to learn from two tutors who are experienced and well-versed in this style of 11+ questions.

English sessions:

We train our pupils to feel confident in all styles of verbal reasoning. To do this, we practice synonyms, antonyms, close, comprehension, missing words, word problems, and finding verbal patterns. We practice this either once a week or twice a week (depending on the number of sessions you book with us) until the questions become familiar and understood.

Maths sessions:

We cover all the topics on the national curriculum as well as look at non-verbal reasoning questions. This allows our pupils a chance to practice what they have learnt in school and get tutor support for new topics or things they do not understand.

All our sessions are run in small groups with a maximum of six pupils per group. The tutor can then get to know each of their pupils, their strengths and weaknesses and give them extra support where needed.
