Step 2. Understand Admission Criteria:

Each grammar school may have its unique admission criteria, which can include academic assessments, catchment areas, sibling priority, and aptitude tests. Don’t forget to review the admission requirements for each school carefully to determine eligibility and assess your child’s chances of securing a place.

For any West Midlands Partnership Grammar School, your child must achieve a qualifying score of 205 to be considered for a place. To ensure you can reach this requirement, tuition for your child may come recommended, check out our 11+ Success course here.

Step 3. Consider Academic and Extracurricular Opportunities:

Evaluate each grammar school’s academic and extracurricular opportunities to ensure they align with your child’s interests, talents, and educational goals. Look for schools that provide a well-rounded curriculum, enrichment programs, and support services that cater to diverse learning needs. Consider how each school fosters personal development, leadership skills, and a sense of community among its students.

Step 4. Visit Open Days and Events:

Attending open days, information evenings and school events can provide valuable insights into the culture, facilities, and atmosphere of each grammar school. Take the opportunity to tour the campus, meet staff and students, and ask questions about the school’s ethos, academic expectations, and extracurricular offerings.

Pay attention to the overall vibe of the school and consider whether it feels like a supportive and nurturing environment for your child. To find out more about Open Days for these Grammar Schools, click here.

Step 5. Seek Feedback and Recommendations:

Don’t hesitate to seek recommendations from other parents, teachers, and educational professionals familiar with the grammar schools near Solihull. Their insights and firsthand experiences can offer valuable perspectives and help you make informed decisions. Consider joining online forums, parent groups, or social media communities dedicated to discussing secondary school options to connect with others facing similar decisions.

Step 6. Plan Ahead and Stay Organized:

As the application process for grammar schools near Solihull typically begins well in advance, it’s essential to plan ahead. Make note of application deadlines, admission test dates, and any additional requirements or documentation needed. Create a checklist to track your progress and ensure you submit all necessary materials on time. This will maximise your child’s chances of securing a place at their preferred school.

Choosing the right secondary school is a significant decision that requires careful consideration and research. Especially when exploring grammar schools near Solihull!

By researching schools, understanding admission criteria, considering academic and extracurricular opportunities, attending open days, seeking feedback, and staying organized throughout the application process, families can navigate the selection process effectively and find the best fit for their child’s educational journey.
