Our Sutton Coldfield 11+ Tuition Centre

Choosing the right 11+ tuition for your child can be an extensive process. Here at Smart 11+ Tuition we are proud to have accessible centres across the West Midlands, including our incredible Sutton Coldfield 11+ Tuition Centre.

Today, we want to introduce you to our Sutton Coldfield branch. We are going to look at the site, history and how we support your child’s 11+ journey!

The Sutton Coldfield 11+ Tuition History

In 2015, our Founder, Sam Faulkner decided to start tuition for the 11+ exam in his local area. Beginning with 1 on 1, and then growing to small group tuition under the name Solihull 11+ Tuition. Sam set about tutoring children for the 11+ exam. This led to great success, with incredible results from the 11+ examination, and consequently, Sam was inundated with pupils wanting to attend. In 2019 we opened our site in Sutton Coldfield and invested in the creation creation of a brand-new curriculum with our Smart 11+ Success ™ Course in line with the 11+ requirements, and born out of our experience of what works.

We keep the groups small, as we believe in early intervention and guiding pupils in a mildly competitive environment. But, best of all, after all these years – we are still seeing children achieve fantastic results!

How can we support your child?

Specialists

At our tutoring centre, we pride ourselves on offering specialised instruction tailored to your child’s needs. With dedicated tutors proficient in both English and Verbal Reasoning as well as Maths and NVR, your child will benefit from the expertise of not just one, but two tutors. We understand the importance of 11+ guidance, and our team is committed to helping your child succeed in their academic journey.

Session breakdown

As you may know, the session will be broken into two sections.  Each week there will be a session on English/VR and a session on Maths/NVR.  Within the sessions, we use electronic worksheets alongside written work in exercise books. We have some brilliant resources coupled with outstanding teachers delivering engaging content, and we always like to keep things fun and interesting!

Improved Curriculum

We are always adapting our curriculum to reflect the changes in the 11+ exam.  The time spent on each area in sessions accurately reflects the ratios of the sections on the examination and we have our best-ever syllabus.

Groupings

The groupings are arranged based on ability level primarily and age secondarily. There are a maximum of 6 pupils in each group.

Feedback

We have a 10-minute transition period before and after sessions to give time to discuss how your child is getting on with us if you wish. If you make your way over to the tutor’s registration point, they will give you any feedback you require. For more detailed feedback, then we can offer this in email form. To get this you can send a request via email to learn@smart11plus.co.uk and the tutors will get back to you within the week.

Homework

We have offer two award-winning platforms: BOFA and Atom. Our pupils log in to these each week and complete their tests. These systems adapt based on your child’s results, and so are completely bespoke to your child’s ability and progress. BOFA is recommended by Eton College amongst many other elite schools. The question bank is as near to the 11+ as you can get so it is such a fantastic resource. Atom Learning provides weekly homework specifc to you, based on what you have completed in each session. Atom provides a comprehensive learning tool with targeted and adaptive questions set in specific areas of learning. It provides access to help sheets and a teaching video to go through the main skills within each piece of homework to enhance your learning experience. Many of the grammar schools in Birmingham use Atom within their homework, so it is a great opportunity to get to know the system in advance.

We send login details through following the first tuition session. These platforms are included in the session price and are available for you to use as often as you like!

Equipment

We will supply all students with an exercise book to work in for both English and maths. All that your child need to bring is a pen, pencil, and ruler. We will do the rest!
