Here at Smart 11+ Tuition this week, we are all abuzz with the news that the Birmingham Grammar Consortium has just released the key 11+ dates for this year’s entrance.
Some of you resident experts will know that registration for the 11+ exam is later than you may think. Parents cannot register for the exam until the 7th May 2024! That means waiting a whole 9 months into that all-important Year 5 class before being able to apply.
However, today I have some good news for you. We now know all the key dates for the exam – including the day of the exam itself – that we are thrilled to be able to share with you!
What are the key 11+ dates?
The first date to remember is registration:
Opening on the 7th May 2024.
Parents usually have from the start of May to the end of June (28th June 2024, 4pm) to register their child to take the test. As well as the usual information about you and your child, the registration form also asks if you want your child’s test results to be used for Warwickshire grammar schools. If you are considering a Warwickshire grammar school, you must tick this box.
Deadline: 28th June 2024, 4pm.
The next date to remember is, the day of the 11+ exam:
this year, this is the 14th September 2024.
This is when your child will sit the exam that determines if they will achieve a place at Grammar School. The Birmingham Grammar School exam is a GL exam, and covers English, Maths, Verbal and Non-Verbal Reasoning. The Birmingham Grammar School website also details what will happen on the day:
It is likely that two sessions will be held (AM and PM). Your child will be allocated a session and you should therefore keep the whole of 14th September free from commitments.

The final date to remember is the Results Day:
this year, this will be on the 18th October 2024.
Please note, once you have received the results you must then fill in your local authority preference form with the chosen schools you would like to apply for. The deadline for this form is the 31st October 2024.
